Behind the Meaning: Keep On Praisin (Close To You)

...this is the last song from my debut Gospel album.  It's definitely THE jam if I may say so myself.  It talks about how in good times, we should praise Him.   In bad times, we should praise Him.  At ALL times we should have the mentality to Keep On Praisin'.

But there are reasons why we praise Him.  In good times, it's easy to understand that we Praise Him because he has done something that has put us in that good place.  We got that promotion we wanted...that car we wanted...that man or that woman we been lusting after (don't worry, I wont tell NOOOOBODY..lol).  But when God is good to us, it's natural for us to Praise Him.

It's in those bad times that things get a little crazy.  Praising God in those bad times is insanity!!  Think about it.  If we pay a car note for a car we don't have sounds ridiculous.  Investing time and energy in a skill you just don't have will get you talked about.  Praising God for something He hasn't even done just makes no sense whatsoever to the natural mind.

But that's the beauty of it.  See when we Praise God for things He hasn't even done yet, it's an act that supersedes the natural and brings us into the realm of the SUPERnatural.  When we Praise God for what He has YET to do, we are signally to everything in the natural world and in the supernatural world (that's you Satan) that we see PAST our situation straight to God.  We know that in Him we are more than conquerers and that He has already equipped us for this storm.  So we are holding on through the storm, confident because we know that nothing the storm throws at us can kill us.  We stand firm, waiting and thanking God for the beauty that He is going to reveal in that Sunlight and Rainbow that follows the storm.

See let me calm down before I start preaching on this blog.  Listen, just praise God in the midst of your situation and watch what happens.  Keep On Praisin...

I love you and God Bless You,

MD
