So I've decided to do something that I've never seen from any other artist (I pay attention to)...I'm going to blog about why I created each of the songs on my album. I figure I should start by talking about the album as a whole. Well this whole journey was built on two things. First, I wanted to find my sound (who is Marc Danyell). Then I had to think about WHY I was making this album.
So, I'll talk about my "sound." This was the toughest things I've had to do. Discovering my sound was hard because I found myself LOVING other people's music & style, but their style didn't necessarily sound as good coming out of me. So my only resort was just to write and see what happens. I'll tell you more as I progress through each of the songs.
Now on to the WHY I made this album. I think everybody has their own journey to God. I've been on a lifelong journey trying to figure out who God is and, more pressing, what He wants from me. Last year, it came to me (while writing songs for this album). It reminded that if I just focus on getting closer to Him, He would reveal Himself to me. I think on the Fred Hammond song "Show Me Your Face." It just captured exactly where I was (see song here). So my drive was to just understand Him better by seeking His face.
